Bhagyashri Borse, who recently made her Tamil debut with Dulquer Salmaan's Kaantha, is currently running on a high of praises for her performance as Kumari in the film. In a recent interview with IANS, the actor shared her biggest takeaway from the film and how she has been receiving all the compliments.
She said, "The amount of hard work I put into Kumari, at one point, had everybody saying, 'I've never seen anybody work this hard.' But for me, just getting that one opportunity, that one platform to prove my skill, was like a blessing. So, I think after the film's release, there's so much love that I'm receiving. It only makes me believe that hard work takes you to places."
The film, helmed by Selvamani Selvaraj, also stars Rana Daggubati and Samuthirakani in prominent roles. Set in 1950s Madras, Kaantha features Dulquer Salmaan as TK Mahadevan. The film also stars Ravindra Vijay and Gayathrie. The period drama explores the complex relationship between a legendary Tamil filmmaker, Ayya, and the movie star he helped rise to fame, Chandran.
Kaantha hit theatres on November 14 and opened to overtly positive reviews. An excerpt from our CE review of the film read, "While we feel enamoured by the visual grandeur of this world, one can’t help but feel a sense of exhaustion from the world-building that might even make one forget that the film began with a murder. Kaantha goes to so many places that the cold-blooded murder gets buried under the visual and aural splendour and performances that you can’t take your eyes off."
Kaantha also boasts an impressive technical team, including cinematographer Dani Sanchez Lopez, editor Llewellyn Anthony Gonsalvez, composer Jhanu Chanthar, and art director Ramalingam, with additional writing contributions from Thamizh Prabha and Sri Harsha Rameshwaram.
Bhagyashri started her film career with uncredited roles in Yaariyan 2 and Chandu Champion. She made her full-fledged debut with Mr Bachchan in 2024. Earlier this year, she was seen opposite Vijay Deverakonda in Kingdom. Up next, she will be seen starring with Ram Pothineni in Andhra King Taluka. Helmed by Mahesh Babu Pachigolla, the film is gearing up to hit theatres on November 27.
