Anupama Parmeswaran is gearing up for her next big release Paradha, the Praveen Kandregula directorial that will hit theatres on August 22. In a recent media interaction, the Tillu Square spoke about the challenges of her previous Telugu film Tillu Square, which emerged as a massive hit.

In an interaction with Idlebrain, Anupama addressed the subject of choosing a film like Tillu Square, which was surprising to many of her fans. She added, “It was a very tricky phase. It’s not like they didnt like the character, but they didnt like *me* playing the character.”

Talking about how it was a tough decision for her to do Tillu Square, the actor explained, ‘I took a lot of time to sign it, thought a lot whether I should do it. Even on sets, I was never 100 per cent confident. I was not even comfortable wearing those outfits in Tillu Square. I was very conscious, and never felt I looked pretty. But then, that is the character. For some roles, we learnt martial arts or dance. Similarly, I considered this too as a challenge.”

At the same time, Anupama acknowledges the positives of doing Tillu Square. “Only thing I was confident about is that it’s.a strong character. Even when film released, people spoke about how it’s equally important to the hero. In commercial films, such opportunities are rare. When you take a risk like that, criticism would happen. I was expecting it.”

In contrast, Anupama recalled her working experience on Paradha. She said, “I am a low-maintenance person. I don’t like investing so much time in getting ready. For Paradha, wearing those costumes and make-up, it didn’t matter how I went to the sits. The more comfortable I feel, the more confident I appear. If i have one costume throughout the film, there is no bigger blessing.”

Anupama’s other recent releases include Dragon and J.S.K - Janaki V v/s State of Kerala. Meanwhile, Paradha also marks Telugu debut for Darshana Rajendran, who is known for films like Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, Hridayam, and Paradise, among others.
