Choreographer Jani Master, who was arrested a few weeks ago under the POSCO Act, was granted conditional bail from Telangana High Court on Thursday.

Earlier, the I&B Ministry had revoked the National Award for the choreographer, which he was supposed to receive for his work in the 2022 film Thiruchitrambalam, after receiving court orders for the same. The ministry also withdrew their invitation to the choreographer for attending the 70th National Awards ceremony, which was held on October 8.

Jani Master was arrested on September 19 in Goa by Cyderabad Police after a 21-year-old choreographer, who has worked as an assistant to Jani Master, filed a complaint against him, alleging him of repeated sexual assault over the course of 4 years. The choreographer was then booked under clauses (2) and (n) of Section 376 (rape), criminal intimidation (506) and voluntarily causing hurt (323) of the IPC. A few days later, Jani had confessed to his crimes.
