On the occasion of the Vinayaka Chaturthi festival, the makers of Mookuthi Amman 2 announced that the upcoming film will release on November 6, coinciding with the Diwali festival. Nayanthara leads the cast of the upcoming which is directed by Sundar C.

A teaser for the film, titled 'Rise of Mahasakthi', was released alongside the announcement of the release date. The teaser gave a glimpse at the story, which is shown to connect a mythological past, where some deadly invaders threaten the survival of a kingdom. In the present, an unknown calamity is shown to plague the people, which results in the people invoking the deity, Mahasakthi.

The cast of the film includes Duniya Vijay, Regena Cassandrra, Urvashi, Yogi Babu, Myna Nandini, Garuda Ram, Abhinaya, Shruthy S, Singapuli Annavi, VR Swaminathan, Sivakumar S, Sunil Varma Indukuri, Varshini Venkat, Pala Karuppiah, Ananda Adhista Lakshmi, Nitin Sathyaa, and Deblina Chaki.

Hiphop Thamizha, a regular collaborator of Sundar C, is on board as the film's composer. The crew of Mookuthi Amman 2 includes director of photography Gopi Amarnath, editor Fenny Oliver, and stunt choreographer Rajasekar K. Venkatt Ragavan has written the screenplay and dialogues.
