What began as online chatter around the actor's whereabouts soon acquired a connection to the two stars.
Keerthy has now seemingly responded to the speculation with a tongue-in-cheek remark. Addressing questions around her reported London visit, the actor said, “Yeah, Toronto International Film Festival is happening in London, right?” a sarcastic response that appears to point towards her professional commitments rather than the rumours surrounding her trip.
The comment has since made its way across social media, with fans debating both the rumour itself and Keerthy's decision to respond to it. Some users praised the actor for shutting down the speculation without directly addressing the Vijay angle, while others turned the geography of the joke itself into a talking point.
The reason behind Keerthy's international travel is, in fact, a significant one for her upcoming film. Dorothy, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is having its world premiere at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, where it is part of the prestigious Centrepiece section. The festival is being held from September 10 to 20, with the film subsequently scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on September 25.
The film marks Subbaraj's 10th feature and brings together Keerthy with Sananth and Rishikanth. It is set in rural India in the early 1990s and explores friendship, compassion, caste and violence. The filmmaker has described the story as being rooted in a specific time and place while dealing with emotions that are universal.
Dorothy has also generated interest for its music, with the film featuring a score by Ilaiyaraaja. The project marks the veteran composer's 1,540th film, adding another notable milestone to what is already a significant festival outing for the Tamil production.
