Nayanthara's Mookuthi Amman 2 is gearing up to open in theatres for Deepavali, with its release coinciding with Suriya's Scene and Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana: Part 1. The sequel is helmed by Sundar C, who has taken over the reins from RJ Balaji, who directed the 2020 original.

While some netizens have expressed their excitement for the film, some others have criticised the graphics in the film, describing it as AI-generated. During the pre-release event of the sequel, which took place on Wednesday, Sundar C opened up about the film's graphics, sharing his disappointment. "Criticism doesn't affect me, but I was disappointed to see some comments under the trailer, where people have opined without knowing the truth," he shared.

Addressing the comments, he continued, "Some have commented that some scenes in the film have been made using AI. I am not underestimating AI. In a few years, AI is going to take over even graphics. That apart, when it comes to Mookuthi Amman 2, nearly 400 Tamil technicians have worked for close to 1.5 years on the CGI. After watching the film, appreciate us if you find the CG to be good, and correct us if it has not been done well."

He then challenged the audience to identify the limited AI-generated shots in the film. "This effort is not easy. They've easily termed it AI. This film has nearly 3000 shots made with graphics. Of that, maybe for 15 shots we may have used AI. This film is a heroine-orientated film, with Nayanthara and Regena in lead roles. But the heroes of this film are every single technician who has worked on the film," he explained.

Mookuthi Amman 2 also stars Duniya Vijay, Regena Cassandrra, Urvashi, Yogi Babu, Myna Nandini, Garuda Ram, Abhinaya, Shruthy S, Singapuli Annavi, VR Swaminathan, Sivakumar S, Sunil Varma Indukuri, Varshini Venkat, Pala Karuppiah, Ananda Adhista Lakshmi, Nitin Sathyaa, and Deblina Chaki. Hiphop Tamizha has composed music for the upcoming film, which will open in theatres on November 6.
