Actor Trisha Krishnan recently sparked conversation online after suggesting she was not adequately included in the promotions of her upcoming film Karuppu, co-starring Suriya. The film, directed by RJ Balaji, marks the duo’s reunion after nearly two decades.

The issue gained traction after Trisha reacted to a fan who admitted they had forgotten she was part of the project. “Thank you. Even I forgot. Good to know they set a reminder now at least," she wrote, subtly calling out the lack of visibility around her role. In another response to a critic questioning her absence from the film’s audio launch in Chennai on April 26, she remarked, “Guess my invite got lost in the mail :)”.

Adding weight to the discussion, executive producer Aditi Ravindranath, who previously collaborated with Suriya on Navarasa, appeared to support Trisha’s stance. Reposting a fan’s comment about actresses being sidelined, she agreed with the sentiment, which criticised the industry for allegedly treating male and female stars differently. The post read, "All this misogyny thrown at her… men are never sidelined from their own projects!” to which Aditi responded, “Exactly!!!”

Her comments were further amplified when she re-shared a post highlighting Trisha's consistent presence at promotional events for past films such as Ponniyin Selvan, Leo, Identity, and Thug Life. The post noted that she has “never shied from promoting her films", pushing back against claims that she skipped Karuppu promotions by choice.

Meanwhile, the Karuppu team has recently released a glimpse of Trisha’s character, Preethi, portraying her as a lawyer in a courtroom setting, along with a brief dance sequence. The film also stars Yogi Babu, acclaimed Malayalam actor Indrans, Sshivada, Lubber Pandhu fame Swasika, Natty, Supreeth Reddy, and Anagha Maya Ravi. The director is also playing a cameo role in the film.

Trisha and Suriya have previously shared screen space in films like Mounam Pesiyadhe (2002), Aayutha Ezhuthu (2004), and Aaru (2005). Karuppu is slated for a theatrical release on May 14.
