Actor Trisha, who was last seen in Thug Life alongside Kamal Haasan and directed by Mani Ratnam, is currently awaiting the release of RJ Balaji's Karuppu, headlined by Suriya, which is set to hit theatres on May 14. While the team has been actively promoting the film through events and interviews, Trisha's noticeable absence from these appearances has sparked conversations across social media.
The actor has now responded these comments via a few cryptic social media posts. Responding to an X user's post on Karuppu, where the person said, "Omg yes, I forgot Trisha is in it," the actor sarcastically stated, "Thank you. Even I forgot. Good to know they set a reminder now atleast." Below the post, another user criticised her sarcasm, and probed her about skipping the audio launch event. Trisha replied to it saying, "Guess my invite got lost in the mail."
Trisha was previously in the news for her appearance alongside her Leo co-star Vijay at a wedding. Pictures of her standing alongside Vijay went viral on social media, garnering major criticism and debate. It increased when the actor's wife Sankgeetha filed for divorce from the actor based on irreconcilable differences, allegations of adultry, and mental strain.
Meanwhile, Karuppu, features Trisha as the female lead, reuniting her with her Aaru (2005) co-star Suriya. The supporting cast includes Yogi Babu, acclaimed Malayalam actor Indrans, Sshivada, Lubber Pandhu fame Swasika, Natty, Supreeth Reddy, and Anagha Maya Ravi. The director is also playing a cameo role in the film.
The teaser for the film revealed that Suriya will play a lawyer called Saravanan, a nod to his original name. Released in July last year, it presented Suriya in a 'mass' avatar. Set in a rural backdrop, he is looked at as a saviour, an almost deity-like who delivers justice to commonfolk.
Besides Sai Abhyankkar as the composer, Cinematographer GK Vishnu, editor R Kalaivanan, production designer Arun Venjaramoodu, and stunt choreographers Anbariv and Vikram Mor, round out the crew of Karuppu.
