When actor Indrans travelled in the general compartment of a passenger train once, it made the headlines, highlighting his humility. At the recent Karuppu audio launch, actor Suriya spoke about his co-star's humble beginnings and his challenging journey in the film industry so far. Suriya said that he and Indrans earned recognition at the National Film Awards. While Suriya won Best Actor for his performance in Soorarai Pottru at the 68th National Film Awards, Indrans earned a Special Mention from the jury for his role in #Home.

Suriya underscored how Indrans was body shamed. “I was stunned to see that,” he said about the discrimination against his Karuppu co-star. However, Suriya also highlighted the actor's gradual evolution into strong character roles. For the uninitiated, Indrans played many side characters in Malayalam cinema for a long time, although he left his own signature touch on them. Suriya drew attention to this background of his co-star and his early life as costume designer.

Referring to his co-star, Suriya said at the Karuppu event, “He has become a hero by doing small roles. He recently went back and wrote his seventh standard exam.” Then, the Karuppu lead actor added that his co-star's journey is a testament to the notion that “dreams have no expiry dates”.

Speaking of hero, the actor earned nationwide acclaim following the release of #Home on Prime Video during the COVID period. The renewed attention on cinema in general and Malayalam films, specifically, back then benefitted the actor as well.

Despite his legend-like status in Malayalam cinema, he has not forgotten his roots. In the latest Mammootty starrer Patriot, for example, he has a very brief appearance alongside Mohanlal. For now, he is sure to grab the headlines once again, now that Suriya has thrown him back into the spotlight.
