Jana Nayagan: The revising committee of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) have cancelled the re-certification of the Vijay headliner, Jana Nayagan, according to reports. The committee were scheduled to watch the film today (March 17).

The film was submitted before the CBFC in December 2025, after which the initial evaluation committee suggested some cuts for the film, which were implemented. But a member of that committee filed a complaint with the Chairman of the CBFC, citing that the film hurt the sentiments of certain religions, and that due permission from the representatives of the armed forces weren't obtained for usage of logos.

Before the initial announced release date of the film, January 9, KVN Productions the banner behind the film, filed a petition with the Madras High Court, which began a long drawn legal battle between the banner and the CBFC. In the end it was ruled that the makers have to submit the film for re-certification.

A new committee were initially set to watch the film on March 9, when the screening was postponed due to a member of the committee falling ill. The screening was later reported to be held today.

Jana Nayagan is Vijay's final film before he retires from films for a career in politics. The film is written and directed by H Vinoth, with music by Anirudh, and Venkat K Narayana producing under his KVN Productions banner. Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Priya Mani, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, among others.
