Actor VTV Ganesh delivered one of the more unexpected speeches at the trailer launch of Con City, moving from real-world observations to a heartfelt note about a technician.

Speaking about his role in the film, Ganesh revealed that he plays an electricity board officer and said some portions of Con City reminded him of incidents people had recently been discussing. “In the film, I’m just an electricity board officer. I collect money and move around,” he said, before recalling reports of people allegedly disrupting electricity supply over political differences.

Ganesh added, “They asked him why, and he said people who didn’t vote for his preferred party shouldn’t get to sleep comfortably with electricity. Imagine — there are children and elderly people, and it’s summer. How can someone think like that?”

Praising director Harish’s approach, Ganesh said, “The director has taken these kinds of true incidents and adapted them beautifully.”

The actor then switched gears and spoke about cinematography and technicians who often work behind the scenes. “I’m saying this especially because of the DOP. I may not know all technicians deeply, but cinematography matters to me,” he said.

Ganesh also reflected on his association with cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa and said he was happy to see him receive recognition. “I introduced Manoj Paramahamsa in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. Today he’s been appointed chairman of the Tamil Nadu government television corporation, and I felt very happy seeing that news. I thank the chief minister for this move, because recognising talent and giving opportunities like that matters.”

In Con City, VTV Ganesh stars alongside Arjun Das, Anna Ben, Yogi Babu, Vadivukkarasi, Aruldoss, and Sakshi Vaidya, among others. Helmed by debutant Harish Durairaj, the film is set for a June 26 release in theatres.
