Actor Samantha recently had a memorable and exciting time meeting her co-star and former actor Vijay, who is now the current Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Posting pictures from the occasion, the actor-producer on Wednesday shared how she knew that Vijay was "always meant for something bigger" and not just a hero on the big screen.
Prior to the meeting, in an interview with Galatta Plus, she expressed her excitement on returning to Tamil Nadu where her co-star is now seated as the elected head of government. "I'm never excited to meet anyone," remarked Samantha, adding, "But this time, I am truly excited as I have worked with him in three films. Everybody must be saying this, but I knew he was different and special."
She further reiterated how she knew that Vijay's goals were clear and not made from a sudden decision. "It was brewing for many years... He stayed consistent with that focus and today, he is the perfect person for the job (CM post). I was following him very closely, like everyone else. We were praying for his victory. I'm not surprised by his victory," she said.
For the unversed, Samantha and TN CM C Joseph Vijay have starred together in Kaththi (2014), Theri (2016), and Mersal (2017).
Following her meeting, Samantha took to her X handle and wrote, "I think all of us, at some point in our lives, are called to do more. To look beyond ourselves and ask how we can contribute. Very few people actually answer that call. I have a feeling Vijay sir will surprise even the people who already believe in him. Not because of the position he holds, but because of the intent with which he approaches it."
The actor is currently on a promotional spree for her much-anticipated Telugu action entertainer Maa Inti Bangaram which hits theatres on June 19. The film also stars Gulshan Devaiah, Diganth Manchale, and Gauthami in key roles.
