Actor and Nadigar Sangam General Secretary Vishal has said that while positions may have changed, his equation with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has remained the same, as he penned an emotional note after meeting him and announced an educational sponsorship initiative in his honour.

Sharing that he has addressed Vijay as “darling” ever since they got to know each other during their Loyola College days, Vishal wrote that the term had stayed unchanged despite Vijay’s journey from being a “budding star” to a “superstar” and now the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

Calling the meeting “an absolute delight”, Vishal said he felt the same warmth from Vijay and added that his “fanboy moment” would always remain. Reflecting on his interactions with political leaders over the years, he wrote that from Kalaignar, Jayalalithaa, Stalin and Udhayanidhi, it had always felt natural for him to maintain that affection while addressing leaders he knew personally.

Alongside the note, Vishal shared that instead of following the customary practice of presenting a bouquet and shawl during the meeting, he had used the money to sponsor the education of three underprivileged girl students in Tamil Nadu in Vijay’s name.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Vishal stated that Vijay’s journey and commitment to public service had inspired many youngsters and that he wanted to make “a humble gesture of respect and admiration” by supporting the students’ education. He further wrote that contributing to a child’s education would create a more lasting impact than ceremonial gifts.

The actor added that he hoped the students would remember Vijay’s contribution and wished the chief minister “positivity and growth” during his tenure, while expressing hope for the state’s progress.

Actor Vishal and Chief Minister Vijay share a long-standing friendship that traces back to their days at Loyola College, Chennai. Over the years, their association has extended from the Tamil film industry into public life and politics, with Vishal often expressing support for Vijay’s governance and cinema-related reforms.
