Actor Nithya Menen, who has starred in a myriad of films in South Indian languages and has earned a strong reputation as a bankable star, is reportedly soon set to don the director's hat.
Director Pandiraaj, who had collaborated with her on Thalaivan Thalaivii last year, which also starred Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, revealed her directorial dreams in a recent interview.
"She is very sweet. Even now she had promoted Parimala and Co on her social media handles and wished me. During the same conversation, she contacted me, asking how my work is going. When I probed her on her next film, Nithya revealed that she has started begun writing and is looking at becoming a director," Pandiraaj said.
The Pasanga filmmaker also praised her writing skills. "She is a wonderful writer. When we were working together, I have narrated four films to her. When fight scenes are ongoing, I would sit with her and share stories. Nithya isn't just a good actor, she will soon become a great writer and a director," he added.
It is to be noted that Nithya Menen announced the launch of her own production banner, Keyuri Production earlier this year.
Thalaivan Thalaivii garnered mixed reviews from critics and audiences, but emerged as a commercial success. Besides this film, Nithya Menen was also seen in Dhanush's Idli Kadai last year.
Meanwhile, director Pandiraaj's latest directorial Parimala and Co is currently running in theatres. Starring Jayaram and Urvashi in the lead, marking their reunion after 20 years, the black comedy thriller film also stars Mysskin, Yogi Babu, Sandy, Santosh Sobhan, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy and Ananthika Sanilkumar.
