The makers of Dhanush's upcoming film Om: Chapter 1 has dropped an announcement regarding an update from the film ahead of the actor's birthday on July 28. Sharing a new poster from the film on Sunday, the team unveiled the release date of the film's first song while also offering another glimpse of Dhanush's character.

The poster features the actor in the middle of what appears to be a celebratory dance sequence, surrounded by a large crowd against the backdrop of a hill illuminated with thousands of lights. The film's music is composed by Sai Abhyankkar, making the upcoming track his first release from the project.

Om: Chapter 1 is subtitled Udhiram: The Bloodwood. The film marks Dhanush's maiden collaboration with the Amaran filmmaker and is produced by Shraddha Agrawal, Dhanush, and Azmat Jagmag under the Wunderbar Films and R Take Studios banners.

Apart from Dhanush, Om also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Mammootty, Sreeleela, Sai Pallavi and Indrans, among others. The film marks Naseeruddin's return to Tamil cinema 26 years after his Tamil debut in Hey Ram.

Om brings Rajkumar Periasamy back together with Sai Pallavi after their collaboration on Amaran (2024), where the actor plays Major Mukund's wife, Indhu Rebecca Varghese. On the other hand, it marks Mammootty's return to Tamil cinema after 2018's Peranbu, as well as reuniting Dhanush with Sai Pallavi after Maari 2 (2018).

On the technical front, it has composer Sai Abhyankkar, cinematographer Ezhil Arasu, editor Kalaivanan, choreographer Sandy, and stunt director Yannick Ben. Details about the film's plot are kept under wraps.

Scheduled for release on October 16, the film will clash with Rajinikanth's Jailer 2, slated for release on October 15. Both films are planned for release during the Navaratri pooja holidays.
