Earlier this Thursday, the team behind director Rajkumar Periasamy and actor Dhanush's upcoming film, Om, celebrated Mammootty's Padma Bhushan award. Dhanush's production banner Wunderbar Films shared stills from the set where Mammootty can be seen cutting a cake, with Rajkumar, Dhanush and the rest of the team applauding him for his achievement. "Celebrating with the legend on the sets. Dhanush and and team Om congratulated Megastar Mammukka for his Padma Bhushan award, on the sets," Wunderbar Films wrote as the caption for the post.
The Mega Star has been rather understated and humble about the recognition. In a recent interaction with the media, he just said that he is happy about it. The actor added that the news has already come out earlier this year and that he only received the award from President Droupadi Murmu recently.
However, on Tuesday, he gave a more elaborate response to being conferred with Padma award through social media. "Deeply Humbled and honored to be conferred with the Padma Bhushan. My sincere gratitude to the Government of India for this prestigious recognition. An honor like this is a reflection of a 5 decade long journey that wouldn't exist without you , my incredible audience. Thank you for the endless love, trust, and support that keeps me going every single day. I dedicate this to the beautiful world of cinema and all of you," the actor wrote.
Om brings Mammootty back to Tamil cinema for the first time after 2018's Peranbu. The film is produced by Dhanush under the Wunderbar Films banner alongside Shraddha Agrawal of R Take Studios. Plot specifics are still under wraps, but the recent promo video has visuals of burning automobiles, protesters, stock market infographics, and a downpour of currency notes. It teases an action drama with money and revolution as its thematic elements.
