As far as mantle's for actors go, Suriya's 'The One' is pretty recent. The man, whom we knew as 'Nadippin Nayagan', was reinvented as 'The One' with Karthik Subbaraj's Retro (2025). At a pre-release event for his upcoming film Scene, Suriya explained the meaning behind his mantle.
"My connection with 'The One'... I am not 'The One', it is 'The One' because we are all one. We are one. In my mind, I don't see it as my name, my tagline. But I see it as... 'The One' is all of us. Only with all of us it becomes 'The One'," said Suriya.
He added, "So for me it is always that way. We are one, we are one family. This love is unconditional for so many years. One thank you will never do justice. I will always surrender (to you all), I will always be with you all, I will keep entertaining you on screen."
Scene is Suriya's third release of 2026 after Karuppu and Vishwanath and Sons. The upcoming film, which opens on November 6, is written and directed by Jithu Madhavan, and also stars Nazriya Nazim and Naslen.
