Actor Varalaxmi Sarathkumar has shared an emotional note after meeting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, expressing her admiration for the actor-turned-politician and voicing confidence in his leadership.
Sharing photographs from the meeting on social media, Varalaxmi described Vijay as "our Chief Minister" and said he has earned the position through courage, determination and the affection of the people of Tamil Nadu. She urged people to judge his tenure by his actions rather than criticism, adding that time would reveal the truth about his leadership.
For the unversed, Varalaxmi shared the screen with Vijay as the antagonist in AR Murugadoss' Sarkar. Incidentally, the film sees Vijay in a political race, which is joined by Varalaxmi, when her father is challenged.
Calling herself a "Vijay Veriyan", the actor wrote that she has always admired Vijay and thanked him for spending time with her during the meeting. She also recalled a conversation they had on the sets of Sarkar, saying she had sensed even then that his journey was heading in this direction.
Varalaxmi further described Vijay as "always warm and humble" and revealed that they discussed a few issues related to women's welfare during their interaction. She said she is looking forward to seeing positive changes for the people of Tamil Nadu under his leadership and wished him and the state well.
Since assuming office as Chief Minister, Vijay has met several personalities from the Tamil film industry. Among them are Sivakarthikeyan, Kavin, Atharvaa, Vishal, Sneha, Prasanna, Parthiban, MS Bhaskar, Khushbu Sundar, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and more.
On the work front, Varalaxmi recently made her directorial debut with S Saraswathi. She is currently working on a Sri Lankan film, Rizana – A Caged Bird, which is set to hit theatres in English, Tamil and Arabic. Meanwhile, CM Vijay's final film, Jana Nayagan, is slated to open in theatres on July 23.
