Fans have been celebrating Rajinikanth's recent film Jailer 2, directed by Nelson, in theatres ever since its October 15 release. According to reports, the film has earned over 600 crore from theatres worldwide. The cast and crew behind the film celebrated its tremendous box office performance on Saturday with a cake-cutting ceremony, with Rajinikanth joining the celebration. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth also attended an IMAX screening of the film with fans on Saturday, his first such public appearance in 40 years. Interestingly, Rajinikanth appeared without any extra security for the screening, something which is uncommon for superstars such as him in India.

Jailer 2 producer Sun Pictures dropped a video on Saturday showing Rajinikanth walking out of a car and entering an IMAX screen for the show. Director Nelson can also be seen in the video, shaking the Superstar's hands. Naturally, an entourage soon follows the Superstar as he makes his way inside the theatre.

It is worth noting that the Jailer sequel is the first Rajinikanth film to have a wide IMAX release.

Besides Rajinikanth, the film also features returning cast members Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa, Vinayakan, Yogi Babu, Shivarajkumar, Mohanlal, and Jaffer Sadiq. The new additions to the franchise are actors Namo Narayana, Suraj Venjaramoodu, SJ Suryah, Kottayam Nazeer, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, Hakkim Shah, Hrithik Roshan, and Apeksha Porwal, among others. Vijay Sethupathi also makes a blink-and-you-will-miss it cameo towards the end of the film, teasing a potential third part in the franchise.

Reportedly, the makers of the film cut out several portions of actors such as Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Hakkim Shah, and Vijay Sethupathi. On the other hand, Santhanam, who was part of the original cast, ended up having no screen space in the final cut, although the comedic actor joined the Jailer 2 team in the success celebrations on Saturday.
