Vishnuu Vishal, who is currently basking in the success of his recent film Gatta Kusthi 2, recently expressed his gratitude to fans and audiences for making the entertainer a commercial hit. The film is nearing Rs 30 crore at the box office, making it a profitable venture for the actor who had also produced the film along with Vels Film International.
Speaking at the success meet of the event held on Thursday, Vishnuu Vishal also thanked producer Ishari Ganesh, specifically noting that he gave him a "free hand" and trust, which he believes was the vital component of the film's success. "He did not ask me any questions and gave me a free hand, encouraging me to do what I wanted for the film. Trust is the biggest form of love and he gave that to me. I am lucky and happy to have won his trust. In many interviews, I had spoken about not being given the due credit in many places. In this stage, Ishari sir has given me credit for my 18-year-long journey. I thank him for that," he shared, also acknowledging the work of the film's cast and crew.
"I am very happy that the film is being received well in B and C centres in Tamil Nadu where many are walking in with their families to watch my film. We went to visit many theatres and were very happy with the response. And this is because of Chella Ayyavu's direction. We know each other for 11 years," he said.
He further added, "Today’s audience is smart and sharp, and they watch cinema with a lot of love. There is very little room for mistakes now. It is a challenge to satisfy the audience and even outsmart them. Gatta Kusthi 2 is a simple film, but audiences have celebrated and enjoyed it immensely."
The actor then spoke about why the victory feels more special. "If I am standing here after an 18-year journey, despite making different kinds of films and succeeding, the reason is the audience. Thank you so much for never giving up on me," he explained.
At the event, Ishari Ganesh presented Vishnuu Vishal with a BMW 3 series car. The film's director was gifted with a 10 g gold chain and bracelet while the rest of the artists received 40 g silver coins each. Interestingly, Vishnuu Vishal is also one of the producers of the film.
In Gatta Kusthi 2, Veera (Vishnuu Vishal) keeps his promise to support Keerthi's (Aishwarya Lekshmi) wrestling career, becoming a house husband while she pursues her dreams. Their differing parenting styles and concerns over their daughter Mathi Malar's future strain their marriage, forcing Keerthi to sacrifice her career. As their relationship falls apart and divorce looms, the family must confront what truly matters.
The sequel stars Kaali Venkat, Karunaas and Munishkanth who have reprised their roles along with Lizzie Antony, Gajaraj and Sreeja Ravi. Ramya Krishnan and Yogi Babu are the newcomers to the sequel. Karunakaran, Mokksha and child actor Zara Zyanna are also part of the film.
