Karathey Babu Teaser: Ravi Mohan is pulled into the dark, gritty and inescapable world of politics

Ravi Mohan as Shanmugha Babu aka Karathey Babu is a member of the legislative assembly in the state which is witnessing heated debates and discussions on a pressing issue. The teaser of Karathey Babu flows with a oppari song running in the backdrop, setting stage for audiences to witness the muddled, gritty world of politics. "Politics is your livelihood, but it is my job," Ravi Mohan is seen saying to a character, hinting that the plot will navigate themes of protests, death and protection of civilians from the actions of corrupt politicians. The upcoming film is helmed by Ganesh K Babu of Dada fame

Shakthi Vasudevan of Ninaithale Inikkum fame plays the antagonist by the name Boxer Selavaraj while KS Ravikumar, Nasser, and Kaali Venkat are seen in key roles in the teaser.

Actor Daudee Jiwal, the daughter of Tamil Nadu Police's former Director General of Police (DGP), Shankar Jiwal, will be playing the female lead in Karathey Babu. The extended supporting cast of the film includes VTV Ganesh, Subramaniam Siva, Kavithalayaa Krishnan, Pradeep Antony, Raja Rani Pandian, Sandeep Raj, Knife Naren, Sindhupriya, Ajith Gosh, Aravindh, Kalki Raja, Sri Dhanya, Anandhi, Ilan, Sam Anderson, Vetrivel, and Nandhini Senthamizh.

As the producers of Karathey Babu, Screen Scene Media Entertainment is collaborating with Ravi Mohan for the third time after bankrolling Agilan (2023) and Brother (2024)The technical crew of Karathey Babu comprises composer Sam CS, cinematographer Ezhil Arasu K, and editor Kathiresh Alagesan. Rathna Kumar and Bakkiyam Sankar have written the film along with Ganesh K Babu. The film is scheduled to release in theatres during summer this year.

Ravi Mohan was last seen in an antagonist role in Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara and starring Sivakarthikeyan, Sreeleela and Atharvaa in the lead. The film was released on January 10, ahead of the Pongal festival.
