Earlier, we reported that the Jiiva starrer Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, directed by Nithish Sahadev of Falimy fame, would release theatrically on January 30. However, the film's producer Kannan Ravi has pushed it ahead to January 15. Earlier today, the producer announced the news on social media with a caption that reads, "All set for a sirappaana (special), tharamaana (quality) Pongal. TTT hits the screens this festival - Jan 15th! A full on kudumbangal kondaadum entertainer (a full-on family entertainer)." The announcement comes following the postponement of Vijay's Jana Nayagan. The makers also acknowledged Jana Nayagan's postponement through an official statement on social media. In it, they said that the decision has been made "with utmost respect to team Jana Nayagan". The statement also described the film as "a neatly crafted family drama made with warmth, sincerity, and emotion, meant to be enjoyed by audiences across all age groups." It further read, "Considering the essence of the film and the spirit of Pongal, we strongly felt that this festival occasion would be the most appropriate time to present it to you."
Co-produced by Deepak Ravi, the film is directed by Nithish from a screenplay he has written alongside Sanjo Joseph and Anuraj OB. The film also has additional dialogues by Vijayakumar Solaimuthu. Interestingly, Anurag is also part of the cast, alongside Thambi Ramaiah, Ilavarasu, Jenson Dhivakar, Prathana Nathan, Sarjin Kumar, Jaiwanth, Rajesh Pandian, Amith Mohan, Subash Kannan, Sharath, and Savithri.
The producer or director is yet to disclose plot specifics, but from the promotional materials, it seems to star Jiiva in the role of a politician. Jiiva also serves as a creative producer for the film. Its technical team includes cinematographer Bablu Aju, composer Vishnu Vijay, and editor Arjune Babu. The film reunites Bablu Aju and Vishnu with Nithish after 2023's Falimy, starring Basil Joseph, Jagadish, Sandeep Pradeep, and Manju Pillai.
The other day, the makers of the film revealed that it has received a U certificate from the Censor Board.
