Ashwath Marimuthu, one of the busiest filmmakers in K-town presently, has shared his experience working with Rajinikanth in Dharman and shoot plans for this film and his next with Silambarasan TR.
Speaking at an award event, Ashwath shared that he could see everything filmmakers Lokesh Kanagaraj and Nelson tell about Rajinikanth unfold in front of his eyes. "Rajini sir is such a beautiful and sweet person. The praises Nelson and Lokesh made of him were 200 percent accurate. I was astonished to see him get up from his chair for his experience and age whenever I passed by. That shows his respect for the art and the role of a director. He is a very great human being."
He also added that Rajinikanth bonded with him very quickly and became a friend. "I was a bit tense as this film comes after I worked with Pradeep Ranganathan and Ashok Selvan, who are of my generation. Rajini sir calmed and comforted me. Now we share a very close bond."
Calling Dharman as a responsibility and not an opportunity, Ashwath said he is carrying the dream of several filmmakers like himself. "I wouldn't call working on a Rajinikanth sir film, produced by Kamal Haasan sir, sheer luck or fortune. It is a responsibility of carrying the dreams of several other young filmmakers. So I hope I will deliver, and the film will be an entertaining Rajinikanth film with a Gen Z treatment from me."
Opening up on the filming schedules about Dharman and his next with STR, for AGS Entertainment banner, Ashwath said, "Dharman shoot will be completed in October and in the meanwhile STR sir will be finishing up with Arasan. And our film will commence in February 2027."
Dharman, starring Rajinikanth and produced by Kamal Haasan, also stars Simran and Raashi Khanna in crucial roles. It is expected that Ram Pothineni will play the antagonist in the film, with Shriya Saran's snap with Rajinikanth setting off a cameo appearance rumour of the Sivaji actor.
