Rajinikanth's much-anticipated film Dharman (Thalaivar 173), which went on floors on June 25, has now moved to the next chapter of filming. Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu in his third directorial, the film sees the star donning the doctor's coat for his role. The upcoming actioner is presented by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI) banner.
The makers shared a new video on Thursday, confirming that the second schedule for the film has begun and described it to be "legendary". Rajinikanth is called 'The Deadly Doctor' in the film and the new glimpse has a few shots of the director, directing the star as he brings out his signature swag and style to the forefront.
Dharman stars Simran as the female lead, reuniting with Rajinikanth after Petta (2019) and Kamal Haasan after Panchathanthiram (2002) and Pammal K Sambandam (2002). Raashii Khanna is also part of the cast of the cast. Speculations are rife about Mysskin and Rukmini Vasanth being part of the cast, but a confirmation is awaited. Plot details have been kept under wraps for now. However, Ashwath dismissed rumours of the film being a remake of the Netflix series The Good Doctor.
On the technical team, Dharman has Anirudh as the music composer, Niketh Bommi as the cinematographer and Pradeep E Ragav handling the cuts. Noted action choreographer duo Anbariv are also part of the project.
For the unversed, Sundar C was first announced as the film's director in November last year, but he backed out of the project. Later, Don filmmaker Cibi Chakravarthi was chosen to helm it. A first look was announced in January this year. While the film was initially scheduled to go on floors in April, it was delayed, which led to speculations about the director being changed yet again. It was only later that Oh My Kadavule and Dragon filmmaker Ashwath Marimuthu's name emerged on social media circles and was confirmed by the makers.
