The recently released film DC saw a unique collaboration between a filmmaker (Arun Matheswaran) and an actor (Lokesh Kanagaraj), making his debut as a lead actor after earning name and fame through his work as a director. Actor Krish Dayal, who plays a police officer in the film, recently spoke to Cinema Express about this unique dynamic between the two.
When asked about his experience working with 'two directors' in one film, Krish said, "No. I only saw one actor and one director in that collaborative space. I viewed only Arun Matheswaran as a director and did not see Lokesh Kanagaraj sir as a director there."
Krish Dayal also said that Lokesh showed a willingness to learn as an actor on DC set. "He would tell his co-stars, 'You guys have a lot of experience and act really well. I will somehow put in my hard work to act well too.' He had complete humility. He was willing to learn, look at other people's work," Krish said about his co-star.
DC tells the story of an outlaw (Lokesh) who takes revenge against those who hurt an innocent family and then embarks on a journey in search of redemption and justice. In his journey, he meets people and comes across situations that form his worldview. Krish Dayal plays the antagonist in the story.
Produced by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures banner, DC has earned more than 50 crore from theatres worldwide in the first four days of its release. According to the latest available data from the box office tracker Sacnilk, the film has earned 64.68 crore from theatres worldwide.
Besides Lokesh Kanagaraj and Krish Dayal, the film also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Avinash Raghudevan, Kasthuri Raja, Thalaivasal Vijay, Jawahar Sakthi, and Sanjana AK, among others.
