Even as it is running in theatres, Netflix, producer Dawn Pictures and distributor Red Giant Movies announced that the Dhanush starrer and directorial Idli Kadai will release on the streaming platform on October 29. The film hit the cinemas only on October 01, which means its digital premiere is set to happen in less than a month of its theatrical release. Reportedly, the film has grossed around 75 crore from theatres worldwide, including about 58 crore from India.

Idli Kadai tells the story of a chef at a Michelin restaurant who goes away from his high-paying job to rescue his father's idli shop. The film also stars Arun Vijay, Rajkiran, Nithya Menen, Shalini Pandey, Samuthirakani, Parthiban, Geetha Kailasam, and Brigida Saga, among others.

Besides directing the film from his own screenplay and starring in it, Dhanush also produced it through his Wunderbar Films banner alongside Aakash Baskaran of Dawn Pictures. Idli Kadai reunites Dhanush with his frequent collaborator, composer GV Prakash after last year's Captain Miller. Its technical team also includes cinematographer Kiran Koushik and editor Prasanna GK.

In our Idli Kadai movie review, Avinash Ramachandran wrote, "Even if it makes you roll your eyes for a while, it somehow manages to get you back to the fuzzy zone. Just like the good ol' idlis... soft, warm, and comfortable, even if sometimes, they need better sides."
