The teaser for Arasan, starring Silambarasan TR and directed by Vetri Maaran, released online earlier today after its theatrical premiere the other day. Part of the Vada Chennai universe, the drama marks Silambarasan's 49th film as an actor. Earlier today, Ashwath Marimuthu, the director of his 51st film, reacted to the teaser. Sharing the teaser posted by Silambarasan on his X handle, the filmmaker appreciated the actor's "range on screen". He also wrote, "Happy for you Silambarasan TR. Santhoshama irunga (be happy)."

Arasan is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu of V Creations. The makers call it "an untold tale from the world of Vada Chennai (2018)." Silambarasan was in talks to star in Vada Chennai. The screenplay for Arasan is a variation of the version that Vetri Maaran had written for the 2018 film, starring Dhanush as a carrom player who becomes the leader of a fisherfolk community.

On the technical front, the film has music by Anirudh, for whom it marks the first collaboration with Silambarasan. Speaking about it the other day, Silambarasan wrote, "Finally our combo happened! You have turned Arasan promo into fire. Cheers to everything upfront and happy birthday rockstar."

Silambarasan's upcoming films also include a project with Parking filmmaker Ramkumar Balakrishnan, tentatively titled STR 49 earlier and also starring Santhanam. However, the title STR 49 was moved to this film with Vetri Maaran as Ramkumar's project was on hold.
