With just seven days to go for the release of RJ Balaji's Karuppu, which stars Suriya in the lead, the wait for the film's trailer have led to the fans eagerly anticipating for its release. Now, director Balaji has taken to social media to address the situation and the reasons as to why the trailer hasn't been released yet.
"We are in the middle of preparations for the release of Karuppu, which will release this day, next week. But before the film's release, the trailer should be released right? The trailer is ready, and I am sure all of you will like it," said the director, who went on to say, "There are a lot of political situations unfolding around us, and when all of us where happy that we voted for the people we want to, unexpected twists took place. But let us hope that in the good things happen in the end. Let us pray for that. Let good prevail."
He added, "Until that positive end result happens,we wanted to wait and see what happens, because we did not want to release a trailer, only for these political waves to wash over it. So let us hope that a clear solution arises. So we are planning to release the trailer, the extended version of 'Verappa', and finally the film, all of which we hope you'll like."
Earlier the director also teased the film's trailer, by sharing a still, which featured Suriya in the midst of all the festivities and fire, teasing the adrenaline charged nature of Karuppu.
While the complete details of the plot is yet to be unveiled, Suriya teased that Karuppu will be a 'spoof' film, in that it will make the audiences laugh but also introspect.
With Suriya playing the role of Saravanan (a reference to the actor's real name) and Trisha as Preethi, the cast of Karuppu also includes Natty Natraj, Mansoor Ali Khan, Swasika, Sshivadha, Anagha Maya Ravi, and Supreeth Reddy, among others.
Sai Abhyankkar has composed music for Karuppu, his sophomore Tamil project, which features lyrics by Pa Vijay, Vivek, Vishnu Edavan, Asal Kolaar, Adesh Krishna, and Arun Srinivasan.
The crew of the film includes cinematographer GK Vishnu, editor R Kalaivanan, production designer Arun Venjaramoodu, and stunt choreographers Anbariv and Vikram Mor.
Karuppu is produced by SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabu under their Dream Warrior Pictures banner. Aravendaraj Baskaran is serving as the executive producer on the film.
