Actor Vishnu Vishal, who was recently seen in Aaryan, answered multiple questions after the release of the thriller which opened to mixed responses from audiences and critics. During a recent press interaction following the release of the film, a reporter probed whether the film's performance was affected after he "interfered" with the story as a producer. Replying to this, Vishnu Vishal elaborated on the process behind the film's editing process and the difficulties they faced while debating on many crucial plot points in the film, including the climax scenes.

"During the editing of Ratsasan, I wasn’t present. The film’s director and producer were the ones who sat with the editor and worked on it. When we were working on Aaryan, there was a discussion about whether it would be right to justify things too much. In Ratsasan, we had originally included more reasons explaining why the villain became a psychopath. There’s about 10 minutes of footage that you haven’t seen. After reviewing it, we decided not to over-justify his actions. I kept discussing this decision with director Ram for almost three months, and in the end, it turned out to be the right call," he revealed.

With Aaryan, the actor-producer, along with the team, sat down to discuss and debate about the same issue. "The things that the character says actually make sense. So there was a debate about whether or not we should justify his actions. Eventually, we decided that it could be justified. We held multiple test screenings, and at that time, no one felt it was a problem. It was only after the release that this issue came up," he added, underlining that their intention was to highlight the roles of people who are employed in "thankless jobs."

Vishnu Vishal further highlighted that cinema is a collective decision. "Sometimes those decisions turn out right, sometimes they don’t. What matters is whether we realise it immediately and fix it. With Ratsasan, my call was right. The essence of what we wanted to convey remains the same, only the presentation has changed. A five-minute scene has now been trimmed to about two and a half minutes or three minutes. The impact will be different here in the new version, but we have only changed who says the words and in what tone," he said.

He stated that he looks at "interfering as taking "responsibility as a hero". "It’s not just about the films I produce. Even if I’m just acting in a project, I feel a sense of responsibility for it. When audiences come to the theatre, they don’t come only for the director; they come for the actor too. And if a film doesn’t work, the first person they blame is the hero. So, naturally, it becomes my responsibility first. That’s one of the reasons many of my films have succeeded. Otherwise, the course would have been different," he stated, noting that this has been one of the key reasons why he hasn't been able to work with a few big names in the industry. "There’s always a hesitation about whether they would be open to hearing my thoughts," he added.

Directed by Praveen K, Aaryan stars Vishnu Vishal as a cop once again to hunt a serial killer who discloses the name of the victim he is set to kill, exactly one hour before the crime is to take place.

Vishnu Vishal is joined by actors Shraddha Srinath, Maanasa Choudhary, and Selvaraghavan in prominent roles in Aaryan. The film's technical crew comprises Harish Kannan as cinematographer, Ghibran as composer and editor San Lokesh. Produced by Vishnu Vishal's Vishnu Vishal Studioz, Aaryan is penned by the actor's FIR collaborator Manu Anand.
