This Venkat Prabhu film to have special screening on director's birthday

Director Venkat Prabhu, known for films such as Chennai 600028, Maanaadu, and Mankatha, among others, is turning 50 this Friday. On the occasion of the filmmaker's birthday, this Friday, Kamala Cinemas in Chennai is set to screen his 2008 film Saroja starting 7:00 pm. The theatre's director Vishnu Kamal announced the news on X, writing, "We at Kamala Cinemas are proud to celebrate Venkat Prabhu sir’s 50th birthday with a special screening of Saroja." Vishnu also revealed that the filmmaker will attend the screening. Reservation is underway for the screening of the film, which Kamala Cinemas describes as "one of VP's masterpieces".

Fans flooded the comments section of the announcement post with requests to Kamala Cinemas to re-release Venkat's 2011 film Mankatha, starring Ajith Kumar, Arjun Sarja, and Vaibhav Reddy, among others.

Coming back to Saroja, the film stars Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Srihari, Premji, Shiva, Vega, Nikita, and Vaibhav, among others. It follows a group of friends who get into extraordinary circumstances during a road trip. Just like some of Venkat's other films, there is a reference to a cricket match in the film. It is also popular for songs such as 'Dosth Bada Dosth' and 'Kodaana Kodi'.
