Filmmaker Venkat Prabhu addressed the media recently and spoke highly of Atharvaa’s film Thanal, directed by Ravindra Madhava. The GOAT director shared that the film, set over the course of a night, reminded him of his 2008 feature Saroja. He praised the work of director Ravindra and all the actors, with a special note of Atharvaa and Ashwin Kakumanu’s performances. “Every character has done really well,” Venkat said before praising all the technical departments, notably music, action, editing, and camera. He gave a shout out to cinematographer Sakthi Saravanan's work in Thanal. Interestingly, Sakthi Saravanan also collaborated with Venkat Prabhu on Saroja.
The film follows a former soldier who sets off on a quest for revenge. Proving an obstacle to him is a cop with a past that has helped forge him into a man with a strong sense of duty. Their paths collide, forcing the constable to choose between self preservation and strong action against the army man. Lavanya Tripathi, Bose Venkat, Sha Ra, Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli, and Azhagam Perumal are also part of the film’s cast.
Atharvaa’s upcoming films include Idhayam Murali, co-starring Preity Mukundhan and Kayadu Lohar, and Sudha Kongara’s Parasakthi, also featuring actors Sivakarthikeyan and Sreeleela. On the other hand, Venkat Prabhu will next collaborate with Sivakarthikeyan on what he says will be “a fun film,” and it is expected to commence production later this year.
