Director Karthik Subbaraj has expressed his joy over the overwhelming response to his latest film Retro, starring Suriya in the lead role. He shared that he was deeply moved by the outpouring of love from fans and the public, calling it a sign of promising new beginnings. The film, which was released on May 1, opened to positive as well as mixed reviews from audiences and earned over Rs 46 crore worldwide in the first two days.

He took to his X handle and wrote, "Whole team of Retro. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts to every one of the audience who gifted us Loud cheers, applause and Loads n loads of Love in theatres...The One Won!! I know it's just a start of the good times, but have to say this because I was really overwhelmed...(sic)

Produced by Suriya-Jyotika's 2D Entertainment and Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Films, Retro also stars Pooja Hegde as the female lead along with Jayaram, Joju GeorgeNassar, Prakash Raj, Sujith Shankar, Karunakaran, Tamizh, Prem Kumar, Ramachandran Durairaj, Sandeep Raj, Murugavel, and Remya Suresh, among others.

With Santhosh Narayanan as the music composer, the technical crew of the film crew comprises cinematographer Shreyaas Krishna, editor Shafique Mohamed, art director Jackson, action choreographer Kecha Khamphakdee, and costume designer Praveen Raja.
