Tourist Family follows a family of Sri Lankan immigrants navigating life in Tamil Nadu. The film has a narrative that champions a message about cross-border love and brotherhood. Its exploration of human connection and resilience has resonated deeply with viewers, contributing to its overwhelming success. The audience has embraced it as a “feel-good film”. In CE’s review, Jayabhuvaneshwari B lauded the film as "a soulful tale of survival and solidarity,” and described it as “A deceptively light film that juggles grief, humour, and warmth in equal measure."

Meanwhile, the highest-grossing film of 2025 in Indian cinema to date is Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, which has reportedly grossed over 800 crore worldwide. On the other hand, the Tamil film’s profit margin significantly exceeds that of films with higher box office collections, a testament to its commercial viability.
