Kamal Haasan mourned the late actor, Kota Srinivasa Rao, who passed away on July 13. Kota Srinivasa Rao's career, which spanned decades, was filled with variegated roles covering different genres. Kamal Haasan and Kota Srinivasa Rao shared screen space in K Viswanath's Subha Sankalpam (1995).
Kamal took to X and wrote, "Kota Srinivasa Rao started acting in stage plays since his college days. Without losing that interest, he waited and took up comedic and character roles in films, and rose up to be a shining star. His career in the art world concluded to completion. My condolences to the veteran, and my condolences to his family."
Winning a Padma Shri in 2015, Kota Srinivasa Rao started his career with the 1978 film Pranam Khareedu, alongside Chiranjeevi. He went on to star in Telugu films like, Repati Porulu (1986), Siva (1986), Aha Naa Pellanti (1987), Hello Brother (1993), Anaganaga Oka Roju (1997), Rakta Charitra (2010), Leader (2010), Athadu (2015), and S/O Satyamurthy (2015).
His entry into Tamil films, was through his iconic portrayal of Perumal Pichai in Hary's Saamy (2003), which starred Vikram. He also starred in films like Thirupaachi (2005), Ko (2010), Saguni (2012), All in All Azhagu Raja (2017), and Maragadha Naanayam (2017).
