Chinmayi Sripaada is set to have her maiden solo live concert in Chennai on August 02, Saturday, and she sent the first invitation to none other than AR Rahman. The singer shared a picture of her giving a bouquet of flowers to the composer on her Instagram and captioned it, "Aaand the first invitation to my concert in Chennai was given to him."
Some of Chinmayi's most popular film songs came with AR Rahman's compositions, notably 'Oru Dheivam Thantha Poove' from her debut Kannathil Muthamittal, and 'Tere Bina' from Guru. Chinmayi was just a teenager when she sang her debut song for Kannathil Muthamittal. In a recent interview with Sudhir Srinivasan, she revealed that she did not understand the true meaning of the 'Oru Dheivam Thantha Poove' lyrics as she was too young back then.
The singer got plenty of attention recently after her rendition of 'Muththa Mazhai' from Mani Ratnam-Kamal Haasan's Thug Life at the film's audio launch in Chennai. The song video topped YouTube charts and earned over 50 million views on the platform. It garnered comparisons with Dhee's original version of the song in the film, also starring Silambarasan TR, Abhirami, Nasser and Trisha, among others. She sang the Hindi and Telugu versions of 'Muththa Mazhai'. It also prompted Vijay Antony to say that he would like to have her sing for his compositions.
Chinmayi recently announced that she would make her debut as a guest at a Kerala-based music reality competition with Star Singer Season 10.
Meanwhile, her first solo concert in Chennai is set to take place at the dedicated arena at VGP Golden Beach Resort in Injambakkam.
