Ever since she performed 'Muththa Mazhai' at the audio launch of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam's film Thug Life, Chinmayi Sripaada has been getting plenty of appreciation from film lovers. The performance not only reminded audiences of Chinmayi's singing prowess but also drew comparisons between her rendition and Dhee's original in the film. Earlier today, Chinmayi took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal that the song has entered YouTube's Top 100 Music Videos Global list and eighth on the compilation of the platform's Top 100 Music Videos India.
Chinmayi Sripaada sang the Telugu and Hindi versions of the song in the film, whereas Dhee sang the Tamil iteration. However, Chinmayi's version at the audio launch is more well known, prompting netizens for its inclusion in the film and to demand the cancellation of the singer's ban from Tamil cinema. While there have been some unwanted comparisons of both versions, some have also recognised how each of the artists brought their own uniqueness to it. However, there is no doubt which version is more popular among audiences, and the YouTube numbers are a testament to it.
