Jana Nayagan's 'Oru Pere Varalaaru' becomes highest-viewed lyric video in Tamil in 24 hours

The song from Jana Nayagan, which seemed to be the anthem of the much-awaited movie, was laced with politically-charged lyrics in a high-energy track

Jana Nayagan's second single 'Oru Pere Varalaaru' released on Thursday amid much fanfare and celebrations. The song, which seemed to be the anthem of the much-awaited movie, was laced with politically-charged lyrics in a high-energy track composed and sung by Anirudh and Vishal Mishra, with lyrics penned by Vivek.

Within a day of release, the song has amassed over 26 million views and has become the highest-viewed single in Tamil cinema in 24 hours, revealed the makers. The first single 'Thalapathy Kacheri' was released a month ago. The fun dance number also had vocals by Anirudh along with Vijay and Arivu. Arivu had also written the lyrics of the song.

Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is said to revolve around Vijay’s role as a police officer, with Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol essaying pivotal roles. The ensemble cast further features Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, and others. Plot details have not been revealed yet.

The film is backed by Venkat K Narayana under the KVN Productions banner and co-produced by Jagadish Palanisamy and Lohith NK. Jana Nayagan is set to have music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, camera work by Sathyan Sooryan and editing by Pradeep E Ragav.

As Jana Nayagan prepares for its Pongal 2026 release, it is set for a clash at the box office with Sivakarthikeyan’s period drama Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara, which hits screens on January 14, 2026.
