Vikram Prabhu is a long escort entrusted with keeping Akshay Kumar's character, Abdul Rauf, in custody to produce him in Sivagangai Court in the trailer of Sirai. The trailer for Vikram Prabhu's 25th film, helmed by Suresh Rajakumari, was unveiled on Friday.

As a part of the Armed Reserve, Vikram Prabhu's cop character is an escort to Abdul, a murder accused, who is to be produced in Sivagangai court. Through the journey, the former is quite cold to the latter. Mid-journey, Abdul runs away with a rifle, causing trouble for the police force. Meanwhile, we also see flashback portions of Abdul's romance with a girl, which seems to have caused his arrest in the first place. The film's trailer establishes that Sirai is based on a true incident.

Sirai's story is by Tamizh, the director of Taanakkaran. Sirai marks a reunion for Tamizh and Vikram Prabhu after Taanakkaran, which was Tamizh's directorial debut and, coincidentally, another film based on the police. The film is also the directorial debut for Suresh Rajakumari. He has written the screenplay of the film along with Tamizh. SS Lalit Kumar is producing Sirai under his 7 Screen Studios banner. LK Vishnu Kumar is serving as the co-producer for the film, with Arun K and Manikandan serving as the executive producers and Arosam serving as the creative producer.

LK Akshay Kumar is producer SS Lalit Kumar's son. The rest of the cast includes Anishma Anilkumar, making her Tamil debut, and Anantha. Justin Prabhakaran is composing the music for Sirai. The rest of the crew of the film consists of Madhesh Manickam as the director of photography, Philomin Raj as the editor, and Raghava Sanjivi as the production designer.

The film is gearing up to hit theatres on December 25. It will release alongside Shanmuga Pandiyan-Sarath Kumar's Kombuseevi and Arun Vijay's Retta Thala.
