
Vikram Prabhu has expressed his gratitude on winning the Kalaimamani award announced by the government of Tamil Nadu recently and stated that the recognition belongs to everyone who supported him.
"I am honoured and humbled to receive the Kalaimamani Award for the year 2022 from the Government of Tamil Nadu. My heartfelt thanks to them and the esteemed jury for this recognition. To my family, my producers, directors, technicians, colleagues, well-wishers and my audience - thank you for your constant love and encouragement. This recognition belongs to you as much as it does to me. Cinema has given me everything, and I will continue to give it my all," he wrote on a note he shared on his Instagram handle.
The Tamil Nadu state government had recently announced the list of Kalaimamani Award winners for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023, along with the awardees for the Bharathiyar, MS Subbalakshmi, and Balasaraswathi awards.
While actors SJ Suryah, Sai Pallavi, director Lingusamy, and stunt co-ordinator Super Subbarayan won it for the year 2021, Vikram Prabhu achieved the award for the year 2022 along with yesteryear actor Jaya VC Guhanathan, lyricist Vivek, PRO Diamond Babu and still photographer T Lakshmikanthan.
In 2022, Vikram Prabhu had acted in Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: I where he played Parthibendra Pallava, and Taanakkaran, directed by Tamizh.
Members of the film fraternity who have bagged the award for the year 2023 are actor K Manikandan, actor George Mariyan, music composer Anirudh, singer Swetha Mohan, dance choreographer Sandy, and PRO Nikil Murugan.
The awards will be distributed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin at the official award ceremony, which is set to take place at Kalaivanar Arangam next month.
Vikram Prabhu, who was last seen in Love Marriage in Tamil and Ghaati in Telugu, has Sirai in the making.
