Earlier, we reported about Krithi Shetty's three back-to-back releases this month: Vaa Vaathiyaar, Love Insurance Kompany, and Genie. In a recent conversation with The Times of India, the actor said that it was not a conscious choice to have three consecutive releases in the same month. "I think the universe is making it happen," she said. Speaking about the films, she said that Love Insurance Kompany is a film "set in the future," that Genie is a piece of "magical realism", and that Vaa Vaathiyaar is a "mystical" film. She attributed the length of time it took to produce these films to their genres. "Postproduction for such films takes time," she said. With the upcoming films, she is coming back to Tamil cinema for the first time after 2023's Custody, directed by Venkat Prabhu. The actor was set to do a role in Bala's Vanangaan, but she stepped out of that project, reportedly due to creative differences with the filmmaker.
It has also been a while since her last theatrical release, director Jithin Laal's Ajayante Randam Moshanam (ARM), also starring Tovino Thomas.
Speaking specifically about her role in Love Insurance Kompany, directed by Vignesh Shivan and also starring Pradeep Ranganathan, she said that it offers an inkling as to how women behave in the future and to their sensibilities. She plays a character named Dheema in the film, which is slated for a December 18 release. On the other hand, she stated that her role in director Arjunan Jr's Genie, also starring Ravi Mohan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Wamiqa Gabbi, is similar to her real-life personality. Genie is set to hit theatres later this month, although the makers are yet to reveal the specific release date.
On the other hand, Vaa Vaathiyaar, starring Karthi in the lead role and directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, is set for a December 12 release in theatres. The film also has a Telugu version, titled Annagaru Vostaru, which is also hitting theatres on the same date.
