Chief Minister Joseph Vijay personally visited Ajith Kumar at the Silverstone Racing Circuit in England on Saturday. Videos, where Vijay can be seen running towards Ajith and embracing him, are going viral on the internet. Meanwhile, Vijay's private secretary Jagadish shared images from the CM's latest meeting with Ajith. The reunion comes after it was reported that Vijay would wave the green flag ahead of the Silverstone race. The Michelin Le Mans Cup, of which the race is a part, called Vijay "a special guest". They also revealed that the superstar-turned-CM would "support our Indian drivers in the UK and officially start the Silverstone Round in front of the 44-car grid."
The meeting also comes hot on the heels of Ajith praising Vijay for his initiative towards the development of motorsports in India. Recently, the CM announced a motorsports city in Chennai. Responding to it, Ajith, an avid motorsports enthusiast and professional racer, said that the initiative is "highly commendable" in its intention to attract youngsters in Tamil Nadu towards sports, as well as finding out their potential and presenting them with ways to systematically develop it.
Quoting Neil Armstrong and referring to the Vijay-led administration's initiative, Ajith Kumar said, "One small step by the Tamil Nadu Government, one giant leap for Indian motorsports." He also wished it "tremendous success."
The meeting also comes at a time when both Vijay and Ajith are exploring different careers from what audiences worldwide best know them for. While Vijay continues to serve the people of Tamil Nadu as its chief minister, Ajith has been on a break for around a year to pursue his motorsports passion. The reunion underscores the camaraderie between the two most popular contemporaries in Tamil cinema of the last 20 years as well.
