Social media is abuzz with speculations that Vijay and director AR Murugadoss may reunite for the actor's next film, referred to as Thalapathy 65. AR Murgadoss previously directed Vijay in films such as Sarkar, Kaththi, and Thuppakki. 

Rumor has it that the movie will be released around Pongal next year. Vijay is currently awaiting the release of the Lokesh Kanagaraj-directorial Master, which is due to hit screens on April 9.

Over the last few months, several big names have been rumoured to be associated with Vijay's next project. Sudha Kongara, who is awaiting the release of her directorial Soorarai Potru, was speculated to be the frontrunner to direct Thalapathy 65. Most recently, filmmaker Ajay Gnanamuthu was rumored to helm the project, but the director denied all such reports.
