Even as Vijay's upcoming film Master is in the post-production stage, gearing up for release this summer, rumours about the actor's next film have surfaced online. One such rumour stated that filmmaker Ajay Gnanamuthu of Demonte Colony fame would be directing Vijay's next project, tentatively called Thalapathy 65. 

The speculations grew stronger and the Wikipedia page of Ajay Gnanamuthu was even edited to say: "His upcoming magnum opus project is #Thalapathy65 produced by Sun Pictures 2021."

However, the director has now denied such reports. He took to Twitter to share a screenshot of his Wikipedia page and wrote, "No! Idhu yaaru paatha vela nu therila (Don't know who did this)."

Ajay Ganamuthu was earlier filming Cobra with Vikram in Russia but had to stop the schedule halfway due to the coronavirus pandemic. Other than Vikram, Cobra stars cricketer Irfan Pathan as the antagonist.
