Anushka Shetty-starrer Nishabdham, which is two weeks away from its theatrical release, is said to be a rip-off of the American slasher film Hush (2016). "Even though nothing has been confirmed yet, there's significant talk in the industry that the story thread of Nishabdham has been copied from Hush. The trailer of the film seems to point to an obvious case of inspiration. However, we can put these rumours to rest only after the film lands in cinemas," says an insider.

The story of Hush revolves around a deaf writer, who leads a secluded life in the woods and how she fights for her life when a masked psychotic killer appears in her window.

Also starring Madhavan, Shalini Pandey, and Anjali, Nishabdham, directed by Hemant Madhukar is expected to hit the screens on April 2. The thriller, which was shot in Tamil and Telugu, will also be released in Hindi, English, and Malayalam.
