Sony LIV and actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu are collaborating on a new project that is expected to mark her return to the Tamil entertainment scene. While the streaming platform has not yet revealed the specific details of the project, the team behind it stated that the partnership signals the start of an exciting chapter that is “designed to surprise, entertain, and leave audiences wanting more.”
The announcement follows the actor's recent career decisions surrounding the release of her film Maa Inti Bangaaram. Samantha initially intended to quit cinema entirely, but her husband, also the film’s writer-producer Raj Nidimoru, changed her mind, convincing her to accept the lead role in it. Before its release, the actor felt that audiences might not turn up to theatres for the film in theaters. However, it has been declared a commercial success. Trade analysis and industry reports attribute its theatrical success directly to her established star power.
Samantha has a notable record in Tamil cinema. Her most popular titles in the industry include Neethaane En Ponvasantham, Kaththi, Theri, 24, Mersal, and Super Deluxe. She last appeared in Tamil in 2022’s Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal. Since then, she has been actively involved in Telugu and Hindi cinema.
