The makers of director Aakash Baskaran's Idhayam Murali, namely Dawn Pictures, dropped the full trailer for the film earlier this Saturday. The Idhayam Murali trailer offers a more detailed look at the characters played by Atharvaa and Preity Mukundhan. It offers further confirmation that the film tells a story of one-side love. Atharvaa's titular character is in love with Preity Mukundhan's character, but he has a hard time communicating it to her. It appears that she rejects his proposal, telling him that he only thinks about his life and not about what her life would be like. It also seems that, years post his college life, he still pines for her and goes in search of her in a foreign land.
The Idhayam Murali trailer does not make it clear as to what role Kayadu Lohar's character has in the story. Perhaps she is a brief romantic interest of Atharvaa's character. At the same time, the trailer suggests that Idhaya meets Fahadh Faasil's character during his journey of life and asks his help to meet his longtime lover.
At one point in the Idhayam Murali trailer, Fahadh's character says, "That is a next-level twist, and not even Korean dramas have it," hinting at the sense of self-awareness in the screenplay. Elsewhere, Fahadh asks his in-car AI to play 'Vennelave Vennelave' from Minsara Kanavu, only for the AI assistant to play a song with the same title from Kaalamellam Kadhal Vaazhga. It is worth noting that, at least on paper, Idhayam Murali explores a story that feels familiar yet fresh and filled with humour.
The film also stars Natty, composer Thaman S himself, Niharika NM, Sudhakar of Parithabangal fame, Yashashree Rao, singer Jonita Gandhi, and Anju Kurian, among others.
On the technical front, it has composer Thaman S, cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa, editor Pradeep E Ragav, production designer Karthik Rajkumar, and costume designers Pallavi Singh and Meenakshi N.
Idhayam Murali is slated for a July 10 release.
