CE Features

The teaser poster of Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan is out. The historical sports drama, based on the golden era of Indian football (1952–1962), stars Ajay in the role of Syed Abdul Rahim, the legendary coach who lead India into the semi-finals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.

The poster features a team of players soaked in mud, footballs in hand. “Get ready for Maidaan! 27th November 2020,” Ajay tweeted.

Syed Abdul Rahim was the manager and coach of the Indian football team from 1950 to 1963. During his tenure, India won the Asian Games twice, in 1952 and 1962. He is widely considered the architect of modern Indian football.

Maidaan is directed by Badhaai Ho’s Amit Ravindranath Sharma. Priyamani has replaced Keerthy Suresh, who was first cast in the role of Abdul Rahim’s wife.

Ajay Devgn’s latest release, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, has minted Rs 228.96 crore at the box-office so far. His upcoming films are Sooryavanshi, Bhuj: The Pride of India, RRR, and Golmaal 5
