Actor Rishika Singh has stirred debate on social media after criticising the trailer of Yash's upcoming film Toxic, objecting to its intimate scenes and questioning the actor's on-screen choices. In a video shared on social media, Rishika said she was disappointed by the romantic and intimate moments featured in the trailer. Addressing Yash directly, she said she expected him to show greater respect towards women and referred to the fact that he is a husband and father. She added that she did not approve of the image presented in the trailer.
The actor's comments became more controversial when she said that if women are not respected, "we will make you vacate Karnataka," before ending the video by saying, "I am Toxic."
The video has since gone viral, triggering sharp reactions online. While a section of users echoed her concerns about the portrayal of intimacy in mainstream cinema, many others criticised her remarks, arguing that the scenes were part of a fictional film and performed by consenting actors.
Several social media users pointed out that the actresses from Toxic had spoken positively about working with Yash during the film's trailer launch, praising both the actor and the filmmaking process. Others questioned Rishika's criticism by sharing clips and images from her own earlier film appearances and photoshoots.
The controversy comes as anticipation continues to build around Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas. The trailer has received widespread attention for its scale, visuals and action, with many calling it one of the most ambitious Kannada productions in recent years, which is also made in English, and set to be released in multiple languages.
Rishika Singh is known for films such as Kalla Malla Sulla, Benki Birugali, Kanthirava and Thuntaru, among others. She is the daughter of veteran filmmaker Rajendra Singh Babu and also a contestant on the first season of Bigg Boss Kannada.
