Parts of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s 151st film, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’s set were razed by revenue officials of Serilingampally mandal on Tuesday. This was after authorities found the film set was constructed without permission. Neither the production house--Konidela Productions owned by Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan--nor the landowner had reportedly obtained any permission from the revenue department to construct the sets and continue the shooting of the historical period drama directed by Surender Reddy.
On Tuesday, officials issued a two-day deadline to the makers for obtaining the requisite permission. The production team asserted that they have taken the land on lease from the owners and they aren’t responsible for getting clearances from the government.
When contacted, A Srinivas, revenue divisional officer (RDO) for Rangareddy district, said that the officials demolished some portions of the sets upon learning that the makers of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy had constructed the sets without obtaining permission. “We have also contacted the production team who agreed to sort out the things with the landowner, failing which we will destroy the sets after two days. As of now, we haven’t received any application from either of them.”
