Earlier this week, we told you that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister will launch the MGR biopic on November 8, and that, contrary to expectations, Sathyaraj would not be playing the lead. The latest information is that, Sathish Kumar has been zeroed in on to play the iconic leader on screen. According to a source, he has appeared in a lot of TV commercials and other regional films. "He has been learning swordfighting and silambam for the role," adds the source.

Directed by Balakrishnan, who also directed the Kamaraj biopic, the film has a script written by Chembur Jayaraj and traces the important events in MGR’s life as a star and a politician. The makers are yet to finalise the actors for the roles of Janaki, Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa.
